Blists Hill Victorian Town

We spent a lovely day at the Blists Hill Victorian Town on Telford. We learnt what life was like during the Victorian period with authentic shops and cottages.  Blists Hill is an authentic Victorian Village with tradespeople in action in their atmospheric workshops and factories.    The 52-acre site at Blist Hills is crammed full of the sights, sounds and smells of Industrial England and is much more than a museum.  Throughout the day, we were truly  immersed into the reality of how it would have been to life back in 1900.  

The girls really enjoyed the amount of interaction they could have with the characters in the town. They particuatly enjoyed the school, where we learned about how different (and strict!) things were back then. The girls loved the authentic sweet shop, where they spent their life savings!  The fish and chip shop and real ale pub looked really tempting but resisted and had our packed lunch on the green in the rain!  The girls had great fun on the rides in the mini theme park.  

All in all it was a great time and we would recomend it and a fun family day out.
